I have been making and using my own coconut oil scrubs now for a couple of years and I am obsessed. My skin has never looked or felt better. Coconut oil has so many benefits for your skin that I refuse to go back to buying the expensive skin care products that I used to buy. Here are 5 of my favorite recipes.
Baking Soda and Coconut Oil Scrub
I use this scrub 1-2x week to exfoliate my face. Use it to treat acne, remove blackheads, maintain skin pH, exfoliate dead skin cells and lighten dark spots.
1 tbs of organic unrefined virgin coconut oil
2 tbs baking soda
2-3 drops of any essential oil like lemon or tea tree oil
Mix well together, apply to face and rub into your skin using your finger tips in a circular motion. Then rinse off. You can easily double the recipe to store in a jar for later use.
Aloe Green Tea Scrub
This is an awesome recipe from sweetsimpleliving.com
1/3 cup of unrefined virgin coconut oil
1/4 cup of granulated sugar
1 tbs aloe gel
2 green tea bags (open bags)
3-4 drops of vitamin E oil
5-7 drops of tea tree oil
Use a jar or container that you can store your scrub in and mix all of your ingredients together and your done. This is also great for acne prone skin.
Just like the rest of our body, our scalp also needs to be exfoliated to get rid of dead skin cells. This scrub also helps to promote hair growth and increase circulation to the scalp.
Brown sugar scrub
3 tbs of brown sugar
2 tbs of unrefined virgin coconut oil
I mix together and store in a container. I like to keep it in my bathroom so that I can use it when I shower. Rub the mixture into your scalp and use your finger tips to massage for about a minute. Rinse and then use shampoo and conditioner your hair like normal.
Thus scrub can also be used before shaving for extremely soft moisturized legs.
Sugar Coconut Scrub
3 tbs granulated sugar (you can use brown sugar as a substitute if you prefer larger granules)
2 tbs unrefined virgin coconut oil
Mix ingredients together use on any area that needs exfoliating.
This special scrub for your lips found on foodfunfamily.com will also help to plump them up. So if you are looking to achieve luscious fuller lips (who isn’t?) then this one is for you.
